WHAT THE WORLD NEEDS NOW IS LOVE, SWEET LOVE

My joy, laughter, love, rest and gratitude serve the world far better than my fear, guilt and worry. We live literally interconnected and interdependent. The vibrations I emanate carry out into the world, as do yours. I long to add to the Universal Love Bank every day. I hope you will too.

It’s helpful to remember that the world we’re currently living in is not how it’s always been. Patriarchy, and all its isms, is only 5,000 years old. The last goddess temple wasn’t destroyed until 500 A.D.  Humans are not naturally “brutish” as we were raised to believe, because the system we’ve been raised in warps our true natures.

5,000 years of patriarchal domination have now resulted in runaway capitalism, horrid racism, environmental degradation, and starving children. It’s not sustainable. If the energy does not divert to love, life on earth may not make it. As many people have said, we cannot use the same tools to change the narrative. Violence and hate only begets more violence and hate.

It occurs to me that one of the most basic problems in our world today is that people do not realize we’re all connected. We are all energetic beings, and our energy affects the whole. This is not to say we never feel fear or worry or guilt – we’re human. We CAN choose to focus on love. We start with loving ourselves as deeply as we can, more each day. When we love ourselves, we can’t help but love everyone and everything. We’re all one. I need reminders about this all the time. Sometimes, as I take a walk, I’ll unfocus my eyes and let myself feel connected to every cell I’m walking through.

I know people think I’m naïve and that focusing on love is too simple. Love is not for the weak of heart. Those of us who have had plenty of heartache, know that the cracks in our hearts let our light shine. That’s why we’re here: to let our light shine and to love all. I want to focus on the possibilities of a peaceful, loving future. I read recently that HOPE is super important. I have hope. Why not?

I heard a statistic recently that floored me. While I believe we’re all connected, and everything we do affects the whole, I realize not everyone believes this. There’s a great divide in our country, fueled by algorithms that lie to all of us. Here’s the statistic:  11% of Americans believe political murder is OK. However, the right believes 30% of the left believe in political murder, while the left think 30% of the the right believes in political murder. How did the numbers jump from 11 to 30?  Algorithms that seek to separate us, fueled likely by those whose greed is devastating everything.

The song of that title was written by Hal David; recorded by Jackie DeShannon and then Dionne Warwick
