A midwife student contacted me recently to request I donate a labia sculpture for their table at the national midwife convention which was held in Portland last week. She’d seen my sculptures at the 2012 PSU production of the Vagina Monologues. Since she especially like my pears, I donated the Purple Pear with Pink Lips shown above. It was raffled to one of the teachers at the school.
A month before that, I was contacted by the Erotic Heritage Museum for the same reason: a sculpture to be raffled. For them, it was their 5 year celebration. I sent a large lipped candy dish.
This week I will drop off my painting (shown below in a previous post) to be part of the Siren Nation Art Show, along with 39 other women artists. It will be held at The Albina Press, 50th & SE Hawthorne, and up for a month. Very excited to be in the same show as Anna Magruder, one of my favorite Portland painters.
Last, and certainly not least, my partner, my daughter and I are having an Art Show & Sale in our new-to-us Carriage House Garage Art Studio. The show is Nov. 9th & 10th — and is a kind of christening of this space that I’ve rented to other artists for the first 23 years of living in our home. It’s so great to have it our space finally – it’s been painted bright colors, and we hope you can join us.
